About

So, what would someone reading this blog want to know about me?

I’ve been a pastor in the Lutheran tradition for 25 years. I’ve spent those 25 years in four congregations: a suburb of St. Louis, St. Petersburg and Naples, Florida, and now Glen Ellyn, Illinois, a western suburb of Chicago. Most days I love what I do.

I love the outdoors and physical challenges. For the past 5 years, I run about a marathon a year, still manage to do some biking, and love backpacking in the wilderness, preferably the Rockies.

I also love to write. Several years ago, I studied fiction writing with Hollis Alpert, film critic for the New York Times and Saturday Review and author of something like 7 published novels.  My first novel, By Paths Untrodden, came out on all major e-book platforms last May and is now available in a trade paperback version. Would love to have you take a look. If you enjoy it, tell a friend.

Oh, and I’m married to a university professor and we have two grown sons.
